For over three decades, Hervé Léger pieces have been making women feel glamorous and confident. The brand that is best known for its bandage dresses, is one that resonates with older consumers and is in the midst of a great comeback with its new creative director, Christian Juul Nielsen. With a long legacy of beauty, power and prestige, Nielsen has taken on the task of channeling the brands rich heritage while giving it a minor revamp...one that is elevated, modern, and reimagined for a new generation.
Quick rewind:
About a month (or so) ago, I was scrolling through Instagram as I normally do and came across a recent photo of Bella Hadid in a white look. She had on a pair of white shorts that in a sense resembled biker shorts and a matching oversized turtleneck top/sweatshirt. I had to have it. After a little bit of investigating, I found out the whole look was Hervé Léger…a brand I hadn’t looked into in quite some time. When I did, I was pleasantly surprised.
The SS19 collection, which is Juul Nielsen’s debut for the brand is just so good. The ‘bandage’ is still very much alive, but updated and blended with sporty overtones while STILL remaining glamorous and sophisticated. Fringe, vibrant colors, and shiny lurex enhance various pieces of the cool cocktail collection and are a gentle reminder that the Hervé Léger woman is as fresh as ever.
The ‘mini T-shirt dress’ (pictured above) is the perfect depiction of the new and revised line. Elegant enough to wear to an event with a statement shoe and sporty enough to rock during the day with a cool boot. The touch of red allows space for some fun accessories.
