Knit Culottes

Happy Friday!!! Thank god it is finally the weekend! This look is all about comfort or as some may call it “casual Friday”. I paired these amazing knit culottes from Zara with a simple white long sleeve tee, white converse, and a chambray shirt. A shirt tied around the waist tends to look effortless and breezy, and is such a great way to relax a look…and I am definitely going to be rocking these pants a lot this spring, they are so easy to throw on with just about anything.

Faith Connexion

Last week I was blowing up my instagram account with photos and videos from the Faith Connexion street art tour. I couldn’t help it…I had such a great time. I wrote my thoughts on the event and the cause under my trending section so be sure to check it out!! I purchased this amazing leather cropped biker’s jacket from the collection, which was customized by graffiti artists Le H and Reyz who were flown in from Paris.  They were AMAZING. On the back of the jacket I had them add NOM (North of Manhattan obviously!!) and Lrecc (my childhood nickname)…and how did I style this leather biker’s jacket?! ALL black of course!! Head-to-toe black in my opinion is the chicest and the coolest, especially with a jacket like this one. I originally was going to pair this look with my over-the-knee Sergio Rossi boots, but I ended up going with my Christian Louboutin leather ankle boots last minute. They give a tough-chic twist to the look without making it look “too biker”.

Proportions

I have had this knit crop top by Nicholas since early fall and this is the first time I have worn it. I am rather skeptical when it comes to crop tops because nailing the look can be tricky…especially when it comes to how much skin is exposed. I think it is important to play with proportions to keep the look sophisticated. Today’s look combines the embossed top with a pair of high-rise white culottes (also a first for me). Again, proportion is key for this style trouser. Because of the cropped length and wide leg the shorter top helps lengthen my silhouette, while the two-toned Louboutin pumps prevent the pants from taking over the entire outfit. I love what the leopard print in the back adds to this all white look.

Favorite Jeans

We all have pieces of clothing that we love but there is always something special about our favorite jeans…and they are always SO hard to replace. Finding a pair that fit perfect seems nearly impossible. I had a pair from Guess that I have been wearing for YEARS until the worst happened…they started to rip. Recently I bought a pair of distressed Joe’s Jeans which I hate to say, I have been living in…so obviously I couldn’t have been more excited when I found out they came out in white!!! The fit is incredible and I just love the frayed cuffs at the bottom. Today I paired them with a white top, and this new long velour coat from Zara that I fell in love with when I saw it in the store. The look manages to show it is indeed spring, but still a little cold out.

Loves Me, Loves Me Not

It wasn’t until recently that I found out Sam Edelman had a clothing line and when I saw this graphic tee I knew I had to have it! Usually the graphic tee’s I find I love are so high priced but this one was so reasonable…and talk about the DEAL OF THE CENTURY…this jacket retails close to $1,600 and I paid around $300 or less at Intermix Online (they have the BEST sales!!) I am loving white on and white for spring but since it is still pretty chilly the jacket works great with my orange suede Loubs.

Hippie Pants

Going into spring with flare. These pants are the perfect way to jump into warm weather. The colorful stripes and flared leg are this season’s biggest trend. My orange suede so Kate boots are a perfect match and suede is also a very big must this spring…bringing falls favorite fabric to a whole new level. The mesh pullover adds a contrast of texture to this look.

Neon, Neon

Happy Monday everyone!! So excited the sun is shining!! Spring is only a couple of weeks away so I am going to start shedding layers and adding those spring touches.  I finally bought myself a pair of overalls from H&M and today I am wearing them with a neon green quarter sleeve sweater. The all-in-one look is easy and cool at the same time. I added my Sandro coat, which has a detachable pink parachute hood for when that wind starts to blow and a pair of minimalist black booties to finish off my look of the day. When it comes to photography and when I shoot, I usually go with early in the morning (around 9:30am) or late afternoon (around 3).  I have learned from my photographer that lighting is a huge factor in the way photos turn out. We always try to either block the light or let the light hit certain parts of the image, which really creates such a different look. It brightens the entire image up! It is crazy how much the photography makes a difference. When shooting this outfit the lighting and shadows were key to the images turning out good…especially because of the reflections in my glasses. In this case we needed to block sunlight.

Blue Bomber

It is almost 40 outside today!! Wahoo!! Talking about weather may be one of the most boring conversations, but lately it has been front and center for us New Yorkers. Today’s street style shots are pretty different than what I am used to but I am loving the stair action. This look is super duper casual and I may be pushing the limits with only a lightweight bomber jacket on…but I just cannot wait any longer. These are one of my favorite pair of Rag & Bone pants. They fit me perfectly (which is hard to find) and I love the military kind of look the suede side patches give them. I paired them with suede slip-on’s (also Rag & Bone) a chambray shirt, and of course the blue bomber for a real street look.

I am finishing up with my winter wardrobe and looking forward to starting my spring shopping. This is such a difficult time of year because we are still getting snow and as much as I want to start wearing lighter weight fabrics the weather does not want to cooperate!! We are off to a bright and sunny start to the day but we are still cold enough for snow here in New York. So for now, coats and sweaters are still in and those lightweight prints are on the back burner. Today I paired these checkered skinny jeans with my oversized white Moschino tee, which gives the outfit a lighter feel and added a leather paneled cardigan from J.Crew along with a black coat and my Miu Miu booties…I hope to be out of the winter mode soon.

Winter Neutrals

As you can see I am a huge fan of neutral pieces. While digging through my closet I came across these floral print Free People pants (a little bit of a tongue twister) I have had for a while now. They are more of a gray tone finished with a cream colored print. I paired them with a neutral knit and suede booties for a casual look in this awful weather....which hopefully will end ASAP.

Gold Accents

Shot by Emily Cloutier

Distressed denim, a blouse, and a sweater make up todays daytime look. I love the way the yellow really makes the calf-hair flats pop. As I have mentioned… I am just easing myself into wearing gold jewelry since I usually gravitate more towards silver pieces. It just so happens that gold accents have worked themselves in, all throughout today’s outfit. From the gold hardware on the handbag and leather jacket, to the delicate necklace finished off with a gold horn pendant and edgy gold zippers on my calf-hair flats, I am slowly but surely giving gold a go.

Bandit

This black bandana-like infinity scarf reminds me of the classic bandana that has found its way back into the fashion realm. Although this silk lookalike is not the real deal, it resembles the classic approach to tying the western-like material around ones neck. It loosens up this all black outfit with its playful tassels yet manages to maintain an effortless and cool balance. When wearing all black it is important to incorporate different textures that give dimension amongst the monochrome. Todays outfit incorporates black silk, with black coated jeans and black leather boots…all black but not boring. There is something about all black that leaves a mystery behind the person wearing it.

J.Crew Skirt/ Sandro Paris Topcoat/ Givenchy bag

It  is still so cold out here in the North East but I wanted to wear a skirt or something a little different than jeans so I paired this loop fringe skirt from J.Crew with a simple white oxford shirt and a sweater together with black tights and my Stuart over the knee boots.  When an outfit is looking a little to bland I throw in a little pop of color and it always seems to  work.  I am such a neutral girl but that extra something especially, in this dreary weather gives a lift to an outfit. Cannot wait until it starts to warm up around here, it has been an incredibly cold winter.

Free People Flares/ Trilogy by Michael McCollum Fur

Flare denim is one of the biggest break out trends of fashion month and I could not be happier. While many people are not a fan of the flare it is actually one of my favorites. I find that the silhouette actually makes me feel a lot taller and 'leggier'. This pair of high-wasited, retro-looking jeans are an older version from Free People, but still a favorite purchase of mine. I am taking it back to the '70s today, pairing them with a large fur and tucked in turtleneck. Fur and leather go hand in hand so pieces that mix both work well together. I love the look this leather-trimmed baseball cap brings to the outfit…chic yet laid back.

Denim: Rag&Bone/ Vest:Theory/Pumps:Christian Louboutin/ Topcoat: Sandro Paris

These shredded and frayed Rag&Bone jeans are about to become a staple of mine. I am so obsessed with everything about them…especially the fact that they are cut in a flattering way, yet still manage to look 'tomboy cool'. I am wearing them with an oversized boyfriend style blouse, a tweed vest that is detailed with a subtle shimmer, and an added Chanel brooch I am currently "borrowing" from my sister (Thanks Cath!) As much as I would love just  to be wearing this outfit, it is still pretty cold outside…so over my shoulders is a Sandro Paris straight-fit topcoat in a charcoal grey color.

Button up: J.Crew/ Choker: Eddie Borgo/ Flats: Miu Miu/ Fur: Alice & Olivia/ Denim: Joes Jeans

It seems that the 90’s are back my friends and just in the NECK of time. Another fad from the decade, chokers are big and better than ever. I recently purchased this thin safety chain choker designed by Eddie Borgo that I have been eyeing for some time now, and I still cannot get enough of it. This one in particular rests at the base of the neck and looks great with deep cut shirts. Not only does it complement the silver captoe of these Miu Miu flats, it also brings a cool and sexy edge to this outfit. I have on an oversized white button up partially tucked into my distressed denim for a more casual look. The black and white stripped Alice and Olivia fur adds a little extra flavor worn over the shoulders.

Skirt: Theory/ Top: Theory/ Boots:Reed Krakoff/ Bag: Balenciaga

Beach weather and vacation cannot come soon enough. It has been so cold this winter…I just cannot wait until it is over. I am doing my best to get a variety of outfits in even though the weather has been horrible. Todays matching skirt and top is made by Theory. Unfortunately I am not able to show you the sleeve on this cropped pullover…it has long dropped sleeves which give the outfit a very relaxed look. Instead of the matching prosecco colored skirt, I chose the black for a little contrast along with black tights and these low gray Reed Krakoff boots which seem to be a crowd pleaser. You could also choose to wear high boots or even a really nice pump to complement this outfit.

Sweater: Banana Republic (Similar)/ Blouse: Vince/ Boots: Sergio Rossi

I usually wear my silver David Yurman pieces everyday…but I am really trying to broaden my horizons this year with jewelry!! I bought this feather necklace and chunky silver ring at a nearby store called Circles Boutique and I just love the different style  (more on the trendy side) these pieces bring to the outfit. I recently even purchased some gold jewelry which is soo unlike me!! Todays outfit is pretty casual..with a mock-necked cropped pullover, denim, and my Sergio Rossi over-the-knee boots which seem to be making an appearance quite often these days! I am just a huge fan of high boots and love how this pair has a back slit, which enables the cuff to be folded down.

Sweater: J.Crew/ Coatigan: The Loft/ Boots: Sergio Rossi /Infinity Scarf: Skull Cashmere

This infinity scarf makes this outfit look effortlessly cool. It alters this look from girly, to edgy and sophisticated with  its printed black skulls on top of gray cashmere. I love the way gray and black look together...so monochromatic..but today I added a touch of pink to take a little of the 'edge' off. The sweater fits slouchy and oversized which makes it great for skinny jeans. It is one of those sweaters you will reach for over and over again.
