Happy fourth of July everyone!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend and time off of work to relax and spend time with friends and family. I know a lot of people go away for the weekend either to the beach or lake….I am home by the pool this year and I plan on laying out for the rest of the day!!

Today I am “earning my stripes”(how convenient for the holiday?!) in this adorable tee dress with a ruffled hem. Ruffles always add a touch of femininity to anything and I think that is why I am always drawn to pieces detailed with them. Rainy days are here (unfortunately) but that should never prevent you from looking your best! One accessory to make sure you have this time of year is definitely a cute umbrella. There are so many adorable options and they aren’t your average accessory you need to splurge on. You can find them at so many different stores at a low price. I personally recommend to check out Kate Spade…they are under $40 and so fun!!

I have been searching everywhere for a pair of cute white short overalls…something I thought that would be super easy…but it wasn’t. I finally found a pair at Madewell that weren’t too distressed and not too long. I decided to pair them with a striped tee, a hooded coat, and rain boots (another necessity). You can always stay cute no matter what the weather decides to throw at you! Shop today’s look below:

If you happen to be a girl on a strict budget then this outfit is the one for you. I have spoken about this before, you do not always have to have the most expensive items in your wardrobe to be stylish. Mixing high end together with less expensive things is done all the time by smart shoppers and no one will ever be the wiser. Just look for things that are made well and have great fabric. Believe it or not, this skirt was only $20.00 and it is the cutest!!! I found it at forever 21 one day when I was just shopping around looking for a few things. perfect for the office or on a day when you just need to run around getting things accomplished. During the summer I will very often wear dresses or skirts during the day because they are easy and lady like. I paired it with another inexpensive top from H&M. The wedges are Paul Andrew, the purse, j.crew, a bit more expensive but adds just the right touch, picking up the same neutral tone of the top and the stripe in the skirt. This is a smart looking outfit, very affordable and one would never guess what I paid for it. Don't be afraid to mix it up, you just might surprise yourself.

Ready, Set…..Monday.

When it comes to spring and summer trends, nothing makes our days easier than the coordinating set.  Matchy-matchy=no fuss and the good news is there are endless combinations to mix and match the separates.  Since the top and bottom are taken care of, it is fun to focus more on adding clashing combos with shoes and accessories.

Today’s skirt is by J.O.A. I bought it at a local boutique, and unfortunately cannot find it anywhere on the Internet. I have tried everything possible!! I am so disappointed!! The set is a light periwinkle blue with white pinstripes and I paired it with these strappy sandals with a colorful mix of gingham print…such a statement shoe.

I went on some of my favorite shopping sites and picked out my top choice sets below. I tried to only link outfits where both the top and the bottom were available in a variety of sizes (so you can buy both pieces obviously)

Cold Shoulder

Hey everyone,

After feeling a little under the weather yesterday and in bed the entire day with allergies and a pretty bad migraine, today I'm a little better. So I am going to try to go about my day, keeping my fingers crossed. I have spoken before about how I am loving wearing sneakers lately, especially with cute dresses and this is one of them. This striped dress with the cold shoulders is the second striped one I bought from French Connection and it is perfect to wear with sneakers. The look is just simple and fresh, easy to wear just about anywhere and very comfortable. You can add a few accessories with it, I thought about a white fedora with a black ribbon which would have been adorable but the decided to forgo, pull my hair back and just keep the look all about the dress. So on the lookout for these since I am more of a dress girl anyway. Find your favorites, the prices range and this particular one was about $80.00. This fringed suede skirt is such a showstopper and can work wonders with just about anything. Today I am getting a little into pattern mixing with stripes and patchwork booties. Stripes work because the colors look great together and the skirt adds a solid, which breaks up the prints. One of my favorite things about the line BB Dakota is that they allow you to have fun with their pieces and style them in your own way. I own a few of their shirt-dresses and they are seriously the best. They usually come with a button-in lining so you have so many options. You may decide to wear it as a dress, an oversized shirt, or even unbutton it and wear as a longer layering piece.

Today’s look is all about the shirt-dress. I decided to give my stripes a little bit of sas with a beaded flower choker and my favorite over-the-knee boots…and does this leather vest look familiar to you?! Bonjour!!!

I am feeling very Parisian today with my new Stella McCartney beret…so what better way to accessorize it than with a Paris scarf draped across my shoulders. Both lend an effortlessly chic finish to this look. As you may know by now, I tend to stick to neutrals when the weather changes. They are easy to mix-and-match, are simple and versatile.

My parents bought me this scarf while they were in Paris, so unfortunately I have no advice on where to purchase it! The good news is…you do not need it to pull off this look. Below I have picked out other berets, wraps, and scarves that will work just as well. Remember, you do not need to stick to one neutral color. I hope you enjoy! Have a great day!

Tokyo is for Lovers

Staying sharp with this amazing charcoal plaid coat from J.O.A. (which is now under $100 I may add!) Today’s look is a casual and everyday outfit featuring jeans and a printed tee with the script “Tokyo is for Lovers”. I went a few sizes up in the top because I preferred it a little oversized.

This look is one everyone can put their own twist on. Whether it be a different tee, a sweater, layering, or accessories…let your style shine! I added a felt Rag and Bone hat for a charming touch and menswear-inspired feel. I wore my favorite Stuart Weitzman 50/50 leather/neoprene boots. For anyone looking for the perfect pair of over-the-knee boots I recommend these. I know they are a little pricey, but trust me they are worth every penny!! One of my favorite boutiques to shop at in my area is Circles. They offer some of the most sought after designers such as DVF, Joie, Rag & Bone, Theory, Splendid, Veronica Beard, Nicole Miller Etc. Three pieces of today’s look can be found at the store- this jacket (Splendid), skirt (Joie), and boots (Vince). All pieces are favorite’s of mine this season.

 I love that the long knit sleeves on this anorak give such a cozy vibe for the cold weather…not to mention are designed with a tribal inspired pattern. In addition to the striped tee and scarf layered underneath, I added this high-waisted wool skirt with an exposed front zipper, which is the perfect wardrobe addition. Suede booties are a must this fall and this pair fromVince offer the perfect touch and are also selling out fast!! Shop them below along with other items from today’s look. A recent favorite purchase of mine is this perfectly tailored wrap dress. Not only do I love the edginess of it and that it can be worn from day to night, but also that it can be layered as a vest piece.

Today I am “Saying it with Stripes” with a ribbed statement turtleneck paired underneath. Turtlenecks are a favorite staple of mine for the fall and winter mostly because they are perfect for both formal and casual events and for layering as cool weather approaches.  

As you know…I have been obsessed with booties lately. The pair I have on today are by Reed Krakoff and unfortunately no longer available, but I found some really great alternatives. Shop my look and similar below:

How awesome is this faux leather jumpsuit from TopShop?! (I told you…I am obsessed these days) It is a pretty edgy piece so I decided to stick to monochrome tones. The clean lines and black crewneck add a bold touch to this look.

These boots from Saint Laurent are no longer available but I picked out a few pair I love just as much that would also work with this outfit. I found a pair at TopShop that are SO similar to my favorite Louboutin boots (but in suede). You can find them listed below! With summer coming to end, there are some really great deals out there.  Starting with Intermix, now 50% off sale, check it out.  I was able to get these great sandals for only $64.00. I found this J.O.A. Varsity mesh sweater at Urban Outfitters and these adorable print trousers were from Zara. Putting this outfit together was so easy...I just added a tank from Banana Republic and jewelry by Chan Luu and Alexis Bittar. Hair up in a pony and my new monster bag for a touch of fun. I found this outfit to be perfect for a day when I'm running errands. Casual, fun and comfortable...unfortunately these items are already gone but I have found similar items I have listed below to make it easy.  I also thought you might like a couple recommendations which are favorites of mine just in case you might be thinking of a warm weather get away as the seasons begin to change. Selections go quickly so get them while you can...

I tend to forget how unexpected and cool gold outfits and accessories can be. Most people only experiment with sparkles and sequins around the holidays, but there are so many different ways to incorporate gold into your look.  I have had this skirt in my closet for so long and have never had the chance to wear it. It was a sample sale find at Alice and Olivia. When I got these Chanel pink felt short boots for my birthday I could not wait to pull it out!! They are probably one of my favorite editions to my fall wardrobe so far and they added just the right amount of color to this fun look. I was able to tone the skirt down a bit by pairing it with a white blouse, yet the gold hearts keep the outfit cohesive.

 Don’t be afraid to add the sparkle or sequin for day wear and remember... “A little party never killed nobody”. 

Act Natural

So happy to be back on the blog today, yet so sad summer is coming to an end. I just got back from vacation on Saturday and I am missing the beach oh soo much. The weather was perfect and I am not looking forward to the winter.

Today I am wearing an ivory tunic (now on sale), which actually fits as a dress on me. It is VERY oversized and has a polo/tennis feel to it. The contrasting ribbon stripes make it very easy to pair with all of your favorite neutral accessories, which is why I added my two-tone Reed bag to bring in some other colors. I have had this mini skirt from A.L.C. for so long now and could never seem to pair it with the right top/shoes. The top part of the skirt is actually a gray sweatshirt material and then finished off with chic white pleats at the bottom. After purchasing this muscle tank by Alexander Wang (also sweatshirt material) I wanted to try it on “just to see what it would look like” with the skirt and I ended up loving the combo. It is sporty yet still girly. For shoes I went with a pair of white slip-on hightops from Zara.

For those who are wondering about this super cool necklace…it was a present from Ellie Vail Jewelry (www.ellievail.com) I am so obsessed with it and have been wearing it nonstop. When I had on this outfit I knew this had to be the necklace for it. The heartbeat rhythm reminded me of the black graphic tee I wanted oh sooo bad from Alexander Wang with the red heartbeat circling it from front to back.

And last but not least…today let me formally introduce you to KARLITO!! I just love him. He was an early birthday gift from my mother (you da bomb Gail). I added him to my mustard color Givenchy bag for a pop of color and fun.  Shop similar below.
