Lighten Up

Hello everyone,

Well, as you have seen on my Instagram, I just got back from Aruba and I had the most amazing and relaxing time. Every year I take two or three vacations with my family and we have been there several times because the Island has the best food, nicest people and pretty much guaranteed great weather. Two years ago we stayed at the brand new Ritz Carlton, which we loved but it is very quiet so this year we decided to go back to the Marriott Stellaris where there is much more activity. The grounds are beautiful and the sun was sizzling, so much so that we had to spend a little less time than usual on the beach. You are right at the equator so you can just imagine how great the weather really is. I cannot say enough about the food and we have several restaurants we frequent, never being disappointed.

We kept it a little more low key than usual this year not fussing as much for dinner, more sandals less on the heels, hair and makeup, which was kind of nice but doesn't always make for the best pics so I will restyle and repost some of my outfits when weather permits. In the meantime I'm back in the Northeast and back on the blog.

I wish I had this maxi dress while in Aruba…it just screams for clear blue water and pink sand. It has that princess feel to it with the flowy bottom. I paired it with pink pumps, and a light blue Edie Parker clutch for a little more color. I hope you like it as much as I do! You can get this look below.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Spring Fever

Skirt:Maje|Top:J.Crew|Jacket:Theory(older)|Pumps:Christian Louboutin

Dino Petrocelli Photography

I have been having serious spring fever. I am over the cold and SO over my winter clothes!! I have been trying to incorporate more color into my outfits along with some lighter weight pieces. This midi skirt from Maje for instance has a neoprene-like finish and all-over print…you could do a lot with this. Today I decided to go with one of my favorite and classic layering pieces…a sleeveless shell (also see the matching cardigan) they always seem to work with just about anything. The sunset pink color adds a fun touch to the green and blue print. This look is still shoppable. See Below:

Hi everyone,
I'm kind of over the winter clothes so, I am starting to incorporate some new spring stuff into my looks. As the seasons change, I am finding myself drawn a little more to color then I normally would be. I'm not quite sure if it's a permanent thing or if it's just giving me a little lift after the winter. I guess we will see how it goes.

This week is fashion week in New York and I am so excited to be attending some of the shows and head out for some fun with friends. I will be posting on Instagram (@northofmanhattan) and snap (@laurrecc), so I hope you will follow along to see what's going on. As always, feel free to comment and if there is anything in particular you would like to see, please let me know.

Paired to Perfection

This fringed suede skirt is such a showstopper and can work wonders with just about anything. Today I am getting a little into pattern mixing with stripes and patchwork booties. Stripes work because the colors look great together and the skirt adds a solid, which breaks up the prints. To get the J.Crew look, it is all about the magic in the mix.  Hence, the darker suede booties and tortoise necklace, which add a chic statement that is hard to describe. A Wink of Pink

Today’s shirtdress is one of my recent favorites…mostly because of how feminine it is. The tiered ruffle hem is dainty and chic and looks absolutely adorable when you put a little pep in your step.

My accessories add pops of pink throughout this look. This hand-beaded scarf necklace is one I have admired since I first saw it at Intermix over the summer. And then…a few weeks ago I was getting my hair done at Brush NYC and got talking to the lady next to me about these amazing earrings she had. It ended up being Mignonne Gavigan, the designer of the line. She invited me to her showroom and I came home with some stunning pieces, which you can expect to see this week. While in the showroom, I also got to preview the Spring/Summer 16 pieces and I CANNOT wait…especially for one piece in particular. I will provide more information throughout the week. For now, shop my look below:

Co-ords have been such a popular trend lately. Whether it is due to the fact they can be worn any time of the day, on any occasion, or maybe because they have an awesome print…

My reason for this set? I love that the tailored vest and wide-leg culottes are not your average and predictable skirt and crop top. Originally I planned on wearing the vest with a silk neck scarf, but I love the white blouse combination. The double collar on this one adds a chic and sophisticated touch.  I kept my accessories to a minimum today and added my Faye small shoulder bag by Chloé for a more refined look.

When it comes to wearing color I am such a pink girl or in this case…blush. If you are more of a neutral girl…be sure to check out the silver gray version below along with similar items!! Happy shopping!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Heart of Gold

NYC Street Style

Blouse:J.Crew|Skirt:Alice&Olivia|Boots:Chanel

Dino Petrocelli Photography

I tend to forget how unexpected and cool gold outfits and accessories can be. Most people only experiment with sparkles and sequins around the holidays, but there are so many different ways to incorporate gold into your look.  I have had this skirt in my closet for so long and have never had the chance to wear it. It was a sample sale find at Alice and Olivia. When I got these Chanel pink felt short boots for my birthday I could not wait to pull it out!! They are probably one of my favorite editions to my fall wardrobe so far and they added just the right amount of color to this fun look. I was able to tone the skirt down a bit by pairing it with a white blouse, yet the gold hearts keep the outfit cohesive.

Don’t be afraid to add the sparkle or sequin for day wear and remember... “A little party never killed nobody”.

Ready to Romp

Sometimes all you need is something as small as a belt to transform an outfit. When first picking out this look I kept going back to my hot pink Louboutin pumps, but was getting pink overload. When I held up a belt I recently bought I knew it was the missing piece. Although this two-tone belt from Maje came in for the fall I love the texture it adds along with denim and burgundy tones. Silver Lining

Top:A.L.C.|Culottes: Zara| Pumps: Christian Louboutin (Sold Out, Also Love This Pair)

I am such a huge fan of culottes. You can take the wide-legged pant anywhere with the right accessories and colors…not to mention there are now so many different styles ranging from denim to leather. The white pair I am wearing today are from Zara, which were very affordable (and makes them even better!) I added neon pink So Kate pumps with a silver/metallic halter crop top for a splash of color. Pink & Orange

Dress:Juicy Couture (older)| Wedges: Sophia Webster (sold out)

Make a printed dress your staple this summer!! This one is an oldie but a goodie! The bright orange and pink are so fun and the silhouette is so flirty. The combination of the empire waist, sleeveless slip-on design, crossing front panels, keyhole cutout, and side hand pockets=straight summer perfection. Because the pattern on the dress isn’t too bold the stripes on these Sophia Webster wedges complement the fabric, while also adding additional colors.

Tonal tassels are a go today. They add a subtle yet adorable element to this set by J.O.A. (which I may add is soo reasonably priced!) The tank has a cropped silhouette and the high-waisted skort is shaped by a wrap-style, creating the skirt in the front/ shorts in the back look. For looks like this I prefer to stay simple with accessories to keep it sophisticated. I paired my nude pumps and blush Chloe bag to add a hint of color, creating a clean and contemporary outfit.

Live Colorfully

Skirt:Alice & Olivia| Graphic Tee:Kate Spade (older, also love this one)

Good afternoon everyone and happy Tuesday,
Well I had a photo shoot yesterday and it was so windy it was ridiculous but all in all I got some really cute pics. I couldn’t decide which ones to post!! Feeling very Sarah Jessica Parker today in this Alice and Olivia skirt and we had so much fun shooting it. The wind was blowing it all over the place and all we did was laugh… got a lot of quirky shots but I think it gives them character. I had this Kate Spade live colorfully shirt and I love pairing graphic tees with skirts so I thought this one would be fun...(side note: Kate Spade has the best graphic tee’s) I very often will wear boots in the summer and my pink Christian Louboutin’s worked really well with this outfit also. Just adorable… I loved wearing it so much I didn’t want to take it off.  To the new friends I met yesterday…I hope you enjoy my closet and thank you for following along!!

Girl Cave Boutique

I am so thrilled to collaborate with Girl Cave Boutique on today’s blog post!! Not only are there great pieces for affordable prices…but they are also made for the everyday woman. Many of the garments can take you straight from work and into the evening. I am beyond in love with this two-piece pink and light grey color-block set. It is so classy and chic and literally perfect for the spring. Matching sets are the best because you never have to worry what you are going to pair the other piece with!! They provide much more flexibility as each piece can also be worn as a separate! Shop this set and many other adorable pieces at Girl Cave Boutique. Princess Maxi

I wore this outfit to an event last week and unfortunately I didn’t take many pictures in it.  I am so in love with this dress so I HAD to make sure it went up on the blog. The cut is so feminine with the drop-waist ruffle and sheer fabric. It looks so beautiful when it flows in the wind. It feels like such a princess dress!! The crazy part is I wasn’t wild about it until I tried it on…and I immediately fell in love. Have you ever had the problem where you have an outfit and are running around like a madman last minute searching for shoes for it?? I feel like this would have been one of those outfits if I did not have these mesh Louboutin pumps. They could not have been more of a PERFECT match. For a bag I went with a faded rose-colored Chloé shoulder bag and tucked the straps in to use as a clutch. It looks so nice against the pale pink giving it a bolder color.

Ribbon Bib

Pants:JCrew|Blouse:JCrew|Plaid Top:Joie|Jacket: Current Elliot|Sneakers:Miu Miu

There is something about the ribbon bib on this shirt that makes me fall in love with it. It almost has a baby doll style look when buttoned to the top.  Instead of dressing the ‘tux-like’ shirt up, I paired it with skinny stretch cargo pants, which match perfectly to the color of my Miu Miu crystal sneakers. An oversized trucker denim jacket on top and a plaid button up tied around my waist make for a look that never goes out of style.

Sweatshirt: J.Crew/Pants: J.Crew/Pumps: Christian Louboutin

A sweatshirt acceptable to wear out?!? Yes Please! This pink sand colored sweatshirt is a dream come true...Loose and comfy enough to dress down, yet the sequins make it lavish enough to dress up. And since chambray moves effortlessly from low-key to fancy…why not pair the two?! I added a cream color skinny jean and my newest pair of Christian Louboutin pumps for a neutral mix. The t-strap heels are finished with a fishnet pointed toe and leather heel, creating the perfect silhouette.

Skirt: Kate Spade (Older)

Vest: Alice and Olivia(Sold Out)

Booties: Vince

Jewelry: David Yurman

I wore this skirt to my college senior formal and received a few negative comments. However, to me fashion means to dress in a way that describes your style and your personality, yet find a way to stand out and be different. I love this skirt from Kate Spade. I think it is fun, it is girly, and that is who I am, not to mention this is definitely a statement piece…so I believe mission accomplished. Paired with all black I transform my once spring formal skirt to a striking winter ensemble detailed in feathers you can NOT miss.
