I have officially checked out of New York Fashion Week and checked into my new shawl-like coat that I do not plan on taking off anytime soon. The earth tone colored plaid is neutral therefore very wearable and the belt at the waist is removable also giving this coat some versatility. Set the tone with dramatic hardware and modern details. Military-inspired pieces make a statement. Today’s ‘Alexander Military Blazer’ was an exclusive piece for Intermix, and unfortunately is sold out…but don’t worry you can still easily get this look! Instead of pairing my blazer with jeans or trousers, I went with a new pleated tulle mini skirt. There is something about the tailored jacket and bouncy skirt together that just works.

Yesterday I got lucky enough to shoot a bunch of great new looks before the cold weather struck again (hence today’s mini skirt). A floral print helps to brighten up our current stuck in winter minds…so why not. I paired this mini with a classic black turtleneck and oversized blue wool-blend coat. It has a wrap-like silhouette and belt, which cinches in the waist for a cozy feel.
A cheerful Edie Parker Yes clutch also brings a more springy vibe to this look. This one is no longer available, but I picked out a few other favorites of mine below. One of my favorite boutiques to shop at in my area is Circles. They offer some of the most sought after designers such as DVF, Joie, Rag & Bone, Theory, Splendid, Veronica Beard, Nicole Miller Etc. Three pieces of today’s look can be found at the store- this jacket (Splendid), skirt (Joie), and boots (Vince). All pieces are favorite’s of mine this season.
I love that the long knit sleeves on this anorak give such a cozy vibe for the cold weather…not to mention are designed with a tribal inspired pattern. In addition to the striped tee and scarf layered underneath, I added this high-waisted wool skirt with an exposed front zipper, which is the perfect wardrobe addition. Vests offer a cozy and warm layering look for fall and winter. This wool one by Joie has a contrast black and striped border that can be fastened closed with a thin leather belt. I have had this sky blue leather skirt for so long and could never seem to put together an outfit that satisfied me. However, when I tried it on with my Joie plaid button down I loved the combination of colors. I thought the outfit looked way more chic with the shirt loosely tucked in and unbuttoned at the top. All I kept thinking when I had this on is...I do not want to look like an Easter egg!! I thought my denim pumps prevented this oh so awful situation and added a striking contrast.

There is something about the ribbon bib on this shirt that makes me fall in love with it. It almost has a baby doll style look when buttoned to the top. Instead of dressing the ‘tux-like’ shirt up, I paired it with skinny stretch cargo pants, which match perfectly to the color of my Miu Miu crystal sneakers. An oversized trucker denim jacket on top and a plaid button up tied around my waist make for a look that never goes out of style.

Springing fashionably forward today with Current Elliot, Rag & Bone, and Joie. I recently stopped into Circles, a local boutique and spied this outfit on the mannequin, and knew right away I had to have it…found out one of my favorite girls styled it…Kudos Alex!! They pulled the entire outfit for me, I tried it on, and then added this floppy brim fedora. I am in love with the fit of these cropped pants especially since I have a very difficult time finding pants that fit me well. The tee I am sporting actually is a muscle tank with an open back…going to be so cool for the summer. The Current Elliot denim jacket is oversized and boxy and I imagine I will be pairing this with a lot. Easiest outfit I have ever purchased!!

I love boyfriend jeans because they are so easy to glam up or dress down and they give off that vibe that you look put together yet not trying too hard. I usually add a splash color with denim..it always seems to do the trick. These papaye colored edition of Christian Louboutin's 'So Kate' booties are my absolute favorite and they take this neutral outfit from simple and baggy to feminine with their high heel and touch of fiery orange. I added my taupe Sara Battaglia bucket bag because I love the leather tassels…they add such a 'chicness' to this great carryall.

What seems to work for me when I am dressing for the day is to choose in three's. Whether it be texture or pattern then, I like to add a splash of color somewhere in my outfit…it tends to make everything pop out at you. Since I am more of a neutral girl I don't go overboard with a lot of color. You will most often see me in shades of a neutral. When spring and summer come around I get a little more adventurous, but during the winter months I will play more with the textures and patterns in gray, black, cream, etc.
