Waking up and being near the ocean is one of the best feelings. Everything is so peaceful and beautiful and even better when you don’t have a care in the world. It always makes me wonder… why in the world I live in New York when I could wake up to this every day.
I have gone on a family trip to Long Beach Island, New Jersey since I was an infant…and it will never grow old. Beach, lunch, beach, dinner…repeat (maybe add in a happy hour or two) …perfect day for me.
It is such a laidback vacation…so not a lot of dressing up. Mostly bathing suits, shorts, and tee’s. This year I did pack my Stella’s and a few pair of wedges just incase. Also, if you have been following along you have seen that I recently invested in my own camera. Definitely NOWHERE as easy as I expected. Does anyone else have a problem with the focus or is it just me? It seems I am always locking the focus in on the opposite of what I need…of course. With my moms help, I was luckily able to take away some good shots, and show you guys my new swimwear along with a few of my casual looks. I hope you enjoy!

While I'm not feeling the greatest these last few days suffering with allergies that almost always turn into sinus problems, I'm forcing myself to keep on trucking. A little slower but non the less. I have been wanting a pair of these Stella McCartney shoes for a while now and usually by the time I'm ready to pull the trigger they are already sold out. This time I was all over them and I'm obsessed with them. They run about a half size big so beware if you should decide to get them. There are so many ways I want to wear them, I think they look good with just about everything. Today I paired them with these white jeans and a striped tee and then added a belt to pull the color from the shoes. I love to mix color and pattern to add that little spark to an outfit.
While not looking forward to fall, I wanted to start giving you all a little insight to what I have been seeing. I will be updating you from time to time now about what is popular for the upcoming season. I am seeing a lot of velvet, jacquard and leather, patchwork, large floral prints and right up my alley, Sooo many ruffles. The shoes are gorgeous... and everything is so rich looking. I feel like we are headed back to a time of ladylike elegance. Some of my favorite things this year are the Gucci kangaroo jacquard loafers, wide belts and I am loving the hand held bags of yesteryear. They started showing up this summer and are on my list for fall. I have started my pre-fall additions so be sure to check them out.

I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend and time off of work to relax and spend time with friends and family. I know a lot of people go away for the weekend either to the beach or lake….I am home by the pool this year and I plan on laying out for the rest of the day!!

First and foremost thank you SO much to everyone who attended my first event at Rebecca Minkoff!! I was beyond happy with the turnout and I am so grateful for the opportunity. I loved meeting and chatting with some of my followers and it is so amazing to see the huge impact social media has today…connecting people from all over with similar interests. I cannot imagine life without it (I am a serious Instagram addict)
I told everyone I would put all of my outfit details from my event the other night on the blog. I usually do not do outfit posts on the weekend…but why wait?! This is the Judith dress from Minkoff of course (one of my current fav’s…but then again so is everything in the store) I love the shoulder cut-outs and the flowy texture. It is just perfect. I decided to pair it with booties instead of heels because 1. I knew I was going to be on my feet for a while and 2. They add a hint of realness to this angel-like dress.

Everything is all about the ‘kicks’ these days. It makes sense for the girl always on the run…they are practical and most of all comfortable…and you can pair them with pretty much anything. My kicks today have mesh side panels making them that much cooler!!

I do not know about you, but I definitely have found love in this graphic oversized tee designed by Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci. What really interests me is that Tisci gets a majority of his inspiration from the streets and the diverse culture of America. As a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology….I spent four years studying different ideologies of society and the deeper meanings behind both human relationships and institutions. I thought of sociology after I watched a brief video I found on the internet (that you can watch here) Tisci takes his personal thoughts and experiences and dives into his creative work. You may see repetitive symbols such as stars, Bambi, basketball, rottweiler’s, and even sayings such as the one on today’s tee “I Feel Love”…and they all hold meanings.
It only makes sense that I went with a very distressed and streetstyle look with denim, black booties, and a black leather choker. These Fendi bug Chelsea boots are my latest shoe purchase and I just am TOO obsessed!! Anyway…you can get this look and similar by shopping below:

Set the tone with dramatic hardware and modern details. Military-inspired pieces make a statement. Today’s ‘Alexander Military Blazer’ was an exclusive piece for Intermix, and unfortunately is sold out…but don’t worry you can still easily get this look! I have included a few other shoppable military-like pieces below that I love.
Instead of pairing my blazer with jeans or trousers, I went with a new pleated tulle mini skirt. There is something about the tailored jacket and bouncy skirt together that just works.

I am unsure why it is soo hard to find a nice oversized black sweater…but it is. This one by Vince is a bit of a splurge, but it will take you through fall and winter with ease. It is incredibly soft and can look chic from day to night.
It may have been really nice out these last few days, but winter aka beanie weather is around the corner and all of the cute ones always sell out fast. This snowflake pompom one is by Autumn Cashmere. They always have super cute sets. Last year I purchased a matching leopard beanie, scarf, and glove set which is still one of my favorites from them. Unfortunately, this snowflake one is currently not available online but I will keep checking in and keep you posted. How ironic is it that something that is used to blend in with your surroundings is also a fashion trend that can make you stand out?! Camouflage is typically a more rugged look, but there are just as many high-end pieces out there as there are your everyday tee’s and sweaters.
The oversized cardigan I have on today is by Current/Elliot and I LOVE it. It is so comfortable, and oversized sweaters are the best for fall and winter because you can put them on with legit anything. I decided to stay with the oversized vibe, and added my boyfriend/cargo jeans along with my new suede booties and perfectly matching Fendi bag! Below you will see other pieces by Current/Elliot along with one of my favorite items- the cargo pants by Faith Connexion (first seen on Kim K). I am obsessed.

Vests offer a cozy and warm layering look for fall and winter. This wool one by Joie has a contrast black and striped border that can be fastened closed with a thin leather belt. Hey everyone!! I'm a little late on today's post…but this is an outfit I wore a few weeks ago during NYFW. Originally I paired this with a deep v-neck sweater, but since we are all in fall mode now... today I decided to go with a navy turtleneck. This skirt is from Maje, and sold out fast (which is happening so much lately). To accessorize this look I added a two-tone fabric belt (also from Maje) a navy leather jacket over my shoulders, and my fav Fendi monster bag!! Shop similar styles below and enjoy your weekend!!

With summer coming to end, there are some really great deals out there. Starting with Intermix, now 50% off sale, check it out. I was able to get these great sandals for only $64.00. I found this J.O.A. Varsity mesh sweater at Urban Outfitters and these adorable print trousers were from Zara. Putting this outfit together was so easy...I just added a tank from Banana Republic and jewelry by Chan Luu and Alexis Bittar. Hair up in a pony and my new monster bag for a touch of fun. I found this outfit to be perfect for a day when I'm running errands. Casual, fun and comfortable...unfortunately these items are already gone but I have found similar items I have listed below to make it easy. I also thought you might like a couple recommendations which are favorites of mine just in case you might be thinking of a warm weather get away as the seasons begin to change. I have had this mini skirt from A.L.C. for so long now and could never seem to pair it with the right top/shoes. The top part of the skirt is actually a gray sweatshirt material and then finished off with chic white pleats at the bottom. After purchasing this muscle tank by Alexander Wang (also sweatshirt material) I wanted to try it on “just to see what it would look like” with the skirt and I ended up loving the combo. It is sporty yet still girly. For shoes I went with a pair of white slip-on hightops from Zara.
For those who are wondering about this super cool necklace…it was a present from Ellie Vail Jewelry (www.ellievail.com) I am so obsessed with it and have been wearing it nonstop. When I had on this outfit I knew this had to be the necklace for it. The heartbeat rhythm reminded me of the black graphic tee I wanted oh sooo bad from Alexander Wang with the red heartbeat circling it from front to back.
And last but not least…today let me formally introduce you to KARLITO!! I just love him. He was an early birthday gift from my mother (you da bomb Gail). I added him to my mustard color Givenchy bag for a pop of color and fun. Shop similar below.
